Gathering information about space in a database using transact sq

Hi!,
I want to gather information about the total space, space used and some
others
statistics like the task pad in the enterprise manager, but using a transact
sql script. I didn't find system tables or useful procedures to do that , the
sp_spaceused give some information but I would like to made some statistics
with this values,
any ideas'
thanks!Hi
Run Profiler and Open up taskpad in EM, and see what EM executes agaisnt the
DB. This gives you a good idea of what they are using.

Fuzzy Grouping error when progress: Finding similar records

I get this errors when progress is : Finding similar records

[DTS.PIPELINE] Information: The buffer manager detected that the system was low on virtual mermory, but was unable to swap out any buffers. 6 buffers where considered and 6 where locked. Either not enough memory is available to the pipeline because not enough is installed, other processes are using it, or too many buffers are locked.

I'm triying to fuzzy match in a table with 1.000.000 records.

My computer RAM is 1GB.

How can I resolve the problem?

Tanks,

Eusebio.

There was a known memory issue in FuzzyLookup which will become more evident in certain circumstance(long running pkg against a large reference table) - FuzzyGrouping uses FuzzyLookup underneath, so it shares the problem. This was fixed for SP1.

For now you can try the possilbe work arounds of setting BufferTempStoragePath or/and inreasing virtual memory size which were discussed in this thread http://forums.microsoft.com/MSDN/ShowPost.aspx?PostID=122391&SiteID=1

future enhancement

I would like to see bread crumbs in report manager for linked reports and drill through to make it easier for users to navigate back to the parent and intermediary reports. The browser back button can be a little flakey. It would be REALLY nice if this could be put into the new report viewer control in VS 2005 also.

I would also like to see a "My Reports" feature that would allow a user to create a list of reports they most frequently access. I have created a custom solution to do this and only told a few users about it; now there are 276 entries in it. We have about 80 users total. I looked at the subscription option but it requires to many settings. Most of our reports have parameters, a date range being the most common, that are not static and therefore subscriptions would be a little tedious to use.

By the way, I am not sure if there is a better forum for this.

Function Keys in Query Manager

This question is surely a general PC question, but someone
here surely knows how to program a hotkey, or funciton key
F6, F7, etc. to put in a string of text to avoid some
typing. I'd like to hit F12 and automatically get:
SELECT * FROM objects WHERE objectid =
I'm having to type this in ALL OF THE TIME.
Any help appreciated.
thanks,
--Bob
Open the Object Browser and click on the Objects tab at the bottom. Drill down to your favourite table, right click and select one of the scripting options.
You're also able to add your own templates as well as using the defaults.

Fulltext search "IT manager"

i remove "IT" from noise word and rebuild fulltext
and when i query it won't give error message anymore "Informational: The
full-text search condition contained noise word(s)."
but it return no result
any clue?
SELECT top 10 j.position
from myjob j (NOLOCK)
INNER JOIN CONTAINSTABLE(job, position,'"IT Manager"') ft ON ft.[key] =
j.job_id
You need to rebuild the catalogs after removing IT from the noise word
lists.

FullText Schedules

On the fulltext indexing Schedules Properties within
Enterprise Manager for a full-text table ... listed
is "full population", "incremental population",
and "update index". Please clarify the "update index"
option and how this differs from full or incremental. I
have a clear understanding of full and incremental... but
the Help information does not clarify "update index".
Thanks
PhilipPhilip,
"Update index" is doc'ed in the BOL as "Update Index in Background", see BOL
for "Change Tracking" vs. Incremental for the differences. FYI, you should
post these in the fulltext newsgroup!

John
